Some people don't consider commercial offset printing for their needs. Or they just don't take into account what it really is. Well think about all of the printed materials you come across in a single day. Like the direct mailers, company brochures, business cards, all of the paper sizes, paper thickness, the colors and the creative marketing materials. Now, how do these items become reality? They evolve from an idea, to a design to a final printout. And here at Blue Hill Press we provide that reality.
Blue Hill Press' offset printing goes through the process of taking art work and transferring that work onto paper or card stock. The process is somewhat simple and hasn't really changed over the years. An aluminum plate is created from the art work. The plate is wrapped around a plate cylinder that allows the plate to come in contact with the ink fountain. Ink is then transferred to a rubber blanket. The blanket transfers the ink to the paper, and the impression cylinder presses the paper against the blanket. There are four printing units, each for an individual color. The paper moves along each printing unit at a speed of 10,000 impressions per hour, retrieving one color at a time and finally ends up in an area of inferred heat to dry the paper for printing on the back side.
Commercial offset printing balances the right levels of water and ink, the rubber blankets transfer the right amount of ink, and the rollers press the image onto the paper, one at a time. Blue Hill Press' commercial printing prowess has many advantages that create professional and outstanding final products for many people to enjoy.
